Androgynnete is a collaborative multimedia project led by myself, Angela Guyton (artist) and j.n.m. redelinghuys (composer). It has been generously funded by the Terry Holmes Composer and Performer Award plus the White Rose College of Arts and Humanities.

We are united by a love of the many forms that the musician’s body can take, and seek to express this through our different creative practices, while remaining critical of models that generalize the body.

This project began in November 2019 and so has constantly battled with and adapted around the pandemic. Covid’s lack of compromise with the arts, particularly how we practice, means this project truly embodies restriction, disruption and irritation. Our remote collaboration has allowed our subject to connect us. We have shared, revealed and expressed our ideas on corporeality, gender and convention, and produced a varied, sprawling collection of items: full collection found here.
